Each year, Moncrief Community Ministries is blessed by local volunteer groups and visiting mission teams from around the country. These teams work with our Penguinos After School and Summer Camp program, hold neighborhood block parties, and work on our Coffee House and Community Garden property. If you are interested in bringing a group for a weekend day project, we can accommodate groups from five to 20 people. Day groups usually work in our Coffee House and Community Garden Property or throw a neighborhood block party in the trailer park where the families in our program live. If you are interested in bringing your mission team to work with our ministry for a full week, we can accommodate groups of up to 30 people, with 20 people being around the ideal number with the amount of work we will have for you. Larger groups are encouraged to find additional sites for team members to volunteer. Summer groups are asked to play a large role in running our Penguinos Summer Camp program, which includes working with the children Monday - Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Groups are asked to provide all Bible study, craft, and recreation materials, snacks and lunch for the children, as well as a field trip at the end of the week. We believe it is best for the children in our program to structure each week of summer camp similarly, and are seeking groups who are looking to be a part of a structured program. Download our Summer Mission Team Handbook to see how summer camp is organized and what is asked of Mission Teams. We ask that youth groups working with us during Summer Camp be primarily made of high school students with an appropriate number of adult chaperones. We usually cannot accommodate middle school student groups, one day, partial day, evening, or weekend groups in the summer. Contact Tara Hope to see if your team would be a good fit with Moncrief Community Ministries and to check on scheduling. All adult volunteers (18 and older) are required to pass a background check before joining us. Below is the form for this procedure. LINK TO BACKGROUND CHECK FORM
